Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has distributed 1,540 plots of land and a ₦100 million cash grant to leaders of the APC Polling Unit Supporters Association, popularly known as 'Yan Akwati, in a move aimed at strengthening the party's grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor announced the package during the inauguration of the association, describing polling unit supporters as the backbone of the APC's electoral success and critical to the party's mobilisation strategy.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the Director-General of Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the beneficiaries received the land allocations and financial support to enhance their capacity to coordinate party activities across polling units in the state.
Yusuf said the intervention was designed to motivate grassroots supporters and reinforce the party's organisational structure in preparation for future elections.
He expressed confidence that a stronger polling unit network would bolster support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027 and other APC candidates, arguing that Tinubu's second term would ensure the continuity of ongoing economic reforms and development programmes.
"The polling unit structure remains the foundation of our electoral success. By empowering those at the grassroots, we are strengthening the party and positioning it for victory in future elections," the governor said.
Also speaking, the Governor's Special Adviser on Political Matters, Mustapha Hamza Buhari Bakwana, described the initiative as the first phase of a broader mobilisation strategy targeted at consolidating the APC's support base across Kano State.
Bakwana said the 'Yan Akwati network has the capacity to deliver more than one million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The event was attended by party leaders, political stakeholders and representatives of the association from all 44 local government areas of Kano State.
