The Company Secretary/Legal Adviser, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited, Barr. Deborah Usman, has urged young Nigerians to turn their ideas, creativity and talents into meaningful impact, saying they possess the capacity to influence society and shape the future.
Usman, who is also the FOUNDER of the DEBORAH USMAN FOUNDATION, made the call in a statement obtained by Angle-360 to commemorate the 2026 International Youth Day.
She celebrated the courage, creativity, resilience and limitless potential of young Nigerians, urging them to move beyond being described merely as “leaders of tomorrow.”
According to her, young people are already important voices, innovators and changemakers capable of making meaningful contributions to society.
She urged youths to take ownership of their future by dreaming boldly, acquiring knowledge, embracing opportunities and standing for what is right.
“Your time is now. Your future is yours to build,” she said.
Usman challenged young Nigerians to transform their ideas into solutions capable of addressing challenges in their communities, stressing that meaningful change often begins with the determination of individuals to make a difference.
She cautioned youths against underestimating their potential, noting that one determined young mind could change lives and contribute significantly to societal development.
“Never underestimate what one determined young mind can change,” she stated.
The foundation founder also emphasised the importance of youth empowerment, saying investment in young people remained an investment in the future.
“At the Deborah Usman Foundation, we believe that empowering young people is empowering the future,” she said.
Usman encouraged youths to pursue education, acquire relevant knowledge and remain open to opportunities that could help them translate their abilities into productive ventures and community impact.
She further urged them to remain courageous in confronting challenges and use their gifts responsibly, saying their ideas and actions could inspire positive change beyond their immediate environment.
The NNPC Gas Marketing Company Secretary/Legal Adviser said young people should pursue their aspirations with purpose and determination, adding that the quality of their contribution to society would ultimately define the legacy they leave behind.
“May your ideas inspire change, your courage overcome challenges, and your purpose leave a lasting legacy,” she said.
Usman congratulated young Nigerians on the occasion of International Youth Day and reaffirmed the importance of creating platforms that would enable them to develop their potential, express their creativity and contribute meaningfully to society.
She maintained that young people should not wait for the future before making their voices heard, but should begin today to turn their ideas, talents and aspirations into tangible impact.
