In the lively world of Nigerian internet personalities, controversial rapper and social media firebrand Speed Darlington (also known as Akpi) has once again stirred things up. This time, he targeted popular skit maker and streamer Carter Efe after the latter’s selection for Kai Cenat’s program.
Carter Efe, whose real name is Oderhohwo Joseph Efe, made headlines earlier in July 2026 after being named one of the select creators — and notably the first international/African participant — in the prestigious (and highly competitive) creator bootcamp program run by U.S. streamer Kai Cenat. The program brings together aspiring and rising streamers for immersive training, collaborations, workshops, and high-profile livestreams. Nigerian fans celebrated the milestone as a significant win for African content creators, with stars like Davido even offering to cover travel expenses.
In a recent video that quickly went viral online (including clips shared on X), Speed Darlington teased Carter Efe’s achievement. He mocked him as “Canda lips” (or “Canta lips” in some transcriptions) and joked about the difficulties of traveling to the U.S. for the program.
One widely shared clip showed Akpi saying something like:
“I hear say Canda lips wan come USA for Streamer University. Thank God for Trump cause if him be Democrat now, everybody go just dey enter here anyhow I for no get level again. If you like have 10M followers, things are controlled over here.”
The comment plays on immigration themes, U.S. border policies, and a playful (or shade-filled) suggestion that Carter’s rising fame might not translate smoothly abroad without the right “level.” It’s classic Speed Darlington: blending humor, controversy, and positioning himself as the ultimate “irregular speedometer” who sees through the hype.
This isn’t the first time these two have crossed paths in the content space. Speed Darlington has previously spoken about Carter Efe’s streaming efforts, including doubting his earnings on Twitch in earlier videos. Carter, who shifted from comedy skits and music (notably the hit “Machala”) to livestreaming, has built a large following — including record-breaking sessions with artists like Davido.
Speed Darlington, born Darlington Okoye, is no stranger to public disputes. Known for his eccentric persona, tracks like “Bangdadadang,” and a string of high-profile feuds (including with Portable, Burna Boy, and others), he thrives on staying in the conversation through bold, often unfiltered commentary.
The incident highlights the competitive and often theatrical nature of Nigeria’s influencer and streaming scene, where achievements like Streamer University selection become content, memes, and rivalries.
Whether this turns into more back-and-forth or remains a one-time viral moment, one thing is clear: in the attention economy, both personalities know how to keep eyes on them. Carter Efe is preparing for a major international opportunity, while Speed Darlington continues to play the role of the outspoken provocateur.
