Russia Warns US, Turkey Over Ukraine Arms Shipment

Russia has warned the United States and Turkey against a planned shipment of weapons and munitions to Ukraine, saying the move could further strain relations with Moscow.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, said documents released by the US Congress indicated that the proposed shipment could constitute a significant arsenal.

The weapons reportedly include 12 multiple rocket launch systems, more than 2,500 non-guided cluster munitions, 47,000 203mm cluster shells and 70 ATACMS short-range missiles.

Zakharova questioned the rationale behind the planned transfer, accusing Washington and Ankara of prolonging the conflict.

“What were the parties thinking when they decided to open another Pandora’s box to make the Banderite regime last longer in its agony while claiming more lives?” she said.

Moscow is seeking clarification on who initiated the plan to re-export the weapons, how they would be transported and when the shipment is expected to reach Ukraine.

Zakharova also accused the United States and Turkey of bias, despite their stated interest in playing a role in resolving the Ukraine crisis through political and diplomatic means.

She warned that increased arms supplies to Ukraine would not alter Russia’s military objectives or force Moscow to change what she described as its “righteous scenario”.

According to the diplomat, the issue goes beyond Kyiv’s alleged determination to inflict harm, warning that the proposed arms transfer could create further friction in Russia’s relations with Washington and Ankara.

The Russian government has formally requested explanations from the United States and Turkey over the reported shipment, stressing that there is still an opportunity to reconsider the plan.
