Police Rescue Ex-Power Minister Adelabu's Sister, Twin Sons; Two Suspected Kidnappers Killed

The Nigeria Police have rescued Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a rescue operation carried out on Saturday.

According to reports, two suspected kidnappers were killed during a gun battle with police operatives, while security personnel recovered two firearms from the suspects.

Mrs John-Paul and her sons were abducted at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026, while reportedly on their way to drop the children off at school.

Police sources said sustained intelligence gathering, strategic tracking, and mounting tactical pressure on the kidnappers led to the confrontation that culminated in the successful rescue of the victims.

The sources disclosed that security operatives have intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped from the scene. Some of the fleeing suspects are believed to have sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange of fire.

The successful operation marks a major breakthrough in the investigation into the abduction, which had sparked widespread concern among family members and residents after news of the incident emerged earlier in the week.

The victims were rescued unharmed and are receiving necessary care and support, while investigations continue to track down and arrest the remaining suspects involved in the kidnapping.
