Police operatives in Adamawa State have arrested 29 suspects during raids on suspected criminal black spots in Yola, the state capital.
The operation, carried out by officers of the Yola Area Police Command, was led by the Area Commander, ACP Grace Sanda, following a directive from the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan.
The CP had ordered Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) across the state to identify and dismantle locations allegedly being used for criminal activities.
According to a statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the operation also led to the recovery of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, tramadol capsules and wraps of suspected illicit substances.
Other items recovered included pipes, lighters, bottles and other materials believed to be used in the consumption and distribution of illicit drugs.
Nguroje said the 29 suspects remained in police custody as investigators worked to determine their individual roles and identify other persons allegedly linked to the activities uncovered during the raids.
