Popular Nigerian TikTok star and content creator Hamzat Habeeb Adelaja, widely known as Peller, has publicly expressed frustration with his parents after they attended his recent wedding with their respective romantic partners.
In a livestream, the newly married creator recounted how he specifically asked his family to keep the guest list small for his white wedding to partner Jarvis (Amadou Elizabeth Aminata). Instead, he said his separated parents each brought their partners along, turning the event into more of a social gathering or “party.”
“A polygamous family is a very bad thing. My father and mother invited so many people. After I warned them not to invite many people, can you imagine? My father came with his girlfriend, while my mother came with her boyfriend,” Peller stated. He added variations of the same complaint in the video, noting that both parents also came with friends and that the broader family had become heavily involved in social media.
Peller expressed clear anger and exhaustion, saying he had changed his attitude toward them as a result. “All my family have turned to social media: Papa o, Mama o, my brothers o, everybody. I dey vex for all of them, and I changed it for them. I’m tired!” he declared. He linked the situation to the difficulties of growing up in a polygamous family structure, describing it as “very hard.”
The comments come shortly after Peller and Jarvis’s high-profile wedding celebrations in Lagos, which included traditional rites and a white wedding that drew significant attention, celebrity guests, and online discussion. Peller had previously spoken about wanting a more private white wedding with a limited number of guests after issues at earlier events, including phone thefts reported after the traditional ceremony.
In the same livestream, Peller also addressed circulating rumors about his father stemming from a viral photo of the older man in bed with another man. He pushed back on the speculation, blaming his father for putting himself on social media through video-making and insisting the rumors were misplaced.
The remarks have sparked widespread conversation online, with many reacting to Peller’s candid frustration about family dynamics on what should have been a tightly controlled personal milestone. Peller’s parents, who are separated, have appeared in earlier family-related content, and the creator has previously discussed aspects of his upbringing, including his desire to “break the family curse” by formalizing his own marriage, something he said his parents never did.
As of now, there has been no widely reported public response from Peller’s parents to his latest comments. The episode adds another layer to the intense public scrutiny that has followed the young couple’s relationship and wedding journey.
