Osun: G100 Says Adeleke’s Victory Offers Template For 2027

The G100 has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, describing the outcome as a significant lesson for Nigeria’s opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement signed by Salihu Moh. Lukman on behalf of the group, the G100 also commended the people of Osun State for what it described as their determination and courage.

The group praised opposition leaders and candidates who stepped down from the race and supported Adeleke, saying their decision demonstrated the importance of placing the broader democratic interest above individual and party ambitions.

According to the G100, the significance of the Osun election goes beyond Adeleke’s re-election, arguing that the outcome has demonstrated what opposition parties can achieve when they overcome divisions and consolidate their support behind a common candidate.

The group said the major challenge facing Nigeria’s opposition is not a lack of popular support, but fragmentation.

It therefore urged opposition leaders preparing for 2027 to emulate what it described as the “courage, restraint and willingness to compromise” demonstrated in Osun.

The G100 said Nigeria is bigger than any individual candidate, political ambition or political party, stressing that opposition leaders who desire a different direction for the country must be prepared to put aside personal interests for a broader democratic objective.

The group concluded that Osun has provided a pathway for opposition cooperation, urging political actors to take the same spirit of collaboration to the national stage ahead of the 2027 elections.
