Osun: Davido tells Okpebholo, ‘Get ready for me’

In a post on his Instagram Story, the singer directly tagged Okpebholo, who had campaigned for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the election.

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has warned Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, to “get ready” following Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

Davido issued the warning on Sunday, shortly after Adeleke, his uncle, was declared winner of the election.

In a post on his Instagram Story, the singer directly tagged Okpebholo, who had campaigned for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the election.

“@he_Mondayokpebholo get ready my brother! Make I sleep first. Nah me and you tomorrow,” Davido wrote.

The latest exchange follows earlier criticism of Adeleke by Okpebholo during the APC campaign in Osun.

While canvassing support for the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, Okpebholo criticised Adeleke’s performance in office and accused him of being more interested in dancing than governance.

Addressing voters, the Edo governor had said: “For four years, this man has been dancing. Before he takes breakfast, before he drinks tea, he will dance. Are you not tired?”

Davido subsequently responded by sharing on his Instagram Story an alleged West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result linked to Okpebholo.

The result, which first circulated on social media amid political controversies in 2024, purportedly showed that Okpebholo sat for six subjects in 2008, recording four D7s, one E8 and one C5.

The alleged WAEC result attracted renewed attention after Davido shared it last week, escalating the war of words between the singer and the Edo governor.

Davido’s latest message suggests that the exchange may continue following Adeleke’s victory in the Osun poll.
