Nollywood Stars Rally Behind President Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election Bid in Abuja

In a vibrant display of celebrity endorsement, prominent Nollywood actors and entertainers have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s quest for a second term in the 2027 presidential election. The high-profile show of support, centered around the slogan “Relax, Tinubu is Fixing Nigeria,” underscores growing momentum within the entertainment industry for the incumbent’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.

Veteran actor Zack Orji, a former president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), led the charge alongside other industry heavyweights. During recent gatherings and campaigns in Abuja and surrounding areas like Maraba, the actors voiced confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, highlighting infrastructure developments, economic reforms, power sector improvements, and efforts to tackle insecurity despite ongoing challenges.

“Tinubu is Fixing Nigeria”

Orji and his colleagues have been vocal in public appearances and media engagements, urging Nigerians to exercise patience with the administration’s reforms. “Relax, Tinubu is fixing Nigeria,” has become a rallying cry for the group, often linked to the pro-Tinubu advocacy platform Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria (RTIFN).

The movement, which has unveiled initiatives showcasing over 300 verifiable achievements of the Tinubu administration, positions the President as a transformative leader who has driven GDP growth, road projects, increased power generation, and student loan disbursements.

Other notable figures in the Nollywood contingent include Saheed Balogun, Yul Edochie (who serves as Deputy South East Coordinator for a related campaign group), and various producers and entertainers. Many have cited Tinubu’s track record in Lagos State—where he reportedly transformed revenue and infrastructure—as evidence of his capacity to deliver at the national level.

The rally-style activities have involved direct outreach to residents, with actors addressing crowds, emphasizing unity, and countering narratives of widespread hardship. Supporters argue that reforms like fuel subsidy removal, though painful in the short term, are laying the foundation for long-term stability.

However, the endorsements have not been without controversy. Critics on social media and in opposition circles have questioned the timing amid economic pressures, including inflation and security concerns, accusing some celebrities of being “paid endorsers.” Netizens have debated the optics of street campaigns involving small gifts like cash and biscuits in areas such as Maraba.

Despite the pushback, the actors remain undeterred. Zack Orji has repeatedly described Tinubu as “the best man to lead Nigeria,” pointing to appointments favoring competence across ethnic lines and a commitment to grassroots development.

As Nigeria gears up for the January 2027 polls, celebrity involvement in politics is nothing new in Nollywood, which has historically played a role in mobilizing public opinion. This latest wave of support adds to a growing list of endorsements from entertainers, business figures, and political groups aligning with the APC and Tinubu’s vision.

Political analysts suggest that such high-visibility rallies in the Federal Capital Territory could help galvanize urban and youth support, key demographics in Nigeria’s evolving electoral landscape. Whether this celebrity backing translates into broader voter enthusiasm remains to be seen, but it signals an active early campaign season.

President Tinubu’s administration continues to emphasize reforms in security, economy, and infrastructure as it positions itself for re-election. For now, a star-studded contingent of Nollywood talents is betting that “fixing Nigeria” is a story worth telling—and voting for.
