NEMA Deploys Emergency Response Team After Passenger Train Incident in Delta

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has deployed an Emergency Response Team (ERT) following an incident involving a passenger train operating on the Itakpe-Warri route along the Agbor axis of Delta State.

In a statement issued on Monday, June 8, 2026, NEMA said its Director-General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, immediately activated the agency's emergency response mechanism after receiving an alert about the incident.

According to the agency, the Director-General has been in communication with the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) and assured the corporation of NEMA's full support in managing the situation.

NEMA said its response team is working closely with the NRC, security agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to provide necessary assistance to affected passengers, ensure their safety, and support ongoing response operations.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and coordinating effective emergency interventions during incidents across the country.
