Makarfi District Head hails Uba Sani over hospital upgrade

The District Head of Makarfi, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi, has commended Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for reconstructing and upgrading the General Hospital in Makarfi, saying the intervention has revived a facility that suffered years of neglect.

Speaking during a media tour of projects executed by the state government in Zone One, the traditional ruler said the hospital’s rehabilitation had improved healthcare delivery and reduced the burden on residents seeking treatment outside the area.

The tour was led by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, alongside the Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma K. Ahmad.

According to the district head, the hospital, established in the early 1970s, had not witnessed major reconstruction or received modern medical equipment for several decades.

He said the renewed investment in the facility had restored public confidence in government-owned health institutions and expanded access to healthcare services for residents and neighbouring communities.

“For years, people in this area faced difficulties accessing quality medical care and often travelled long distances for treatment. Today, that situation has improved significantly,” he said.

Abdullahi added that the governor had fulfilled commitments made to the people of Makarfi through the reconstruction and equipping of the hospital.

He said the project had brought relief to families and strengthened healthcare services within the local government area.

Some residents who spoke during the visit also expressed satisfaction with the development.

One of the patients at the hospital, Malama Sadiya Rabiu, said the improved facility had reduced the cost and stress associated with seeking medical attention outside the community.

She said residents could now access better healthcare services closer to their homes.

Another resident, Abdullahi Musa, described the project as evidence of government’s commitment to improving citizens’ welfare and strengthening public services.

The Kaduna State Government had earlier listed Makarfi General Hospital among 16 general hospitals undergoing reconstruction and modernisation under its healthcare improvement programme.

Speaking during the visit, the Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma Ahmad, said the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality and affordable healthcare across the state.

She said government would continue to invest in rehabilitation, upgrading and equipping of health facilities, especially in underserved communities.
