The Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVIS) has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening security across Kaduna State through continuous training and retraining of its personnel, describing capacity building as essential to tackling the evolving nature of crime.
Speaking during the commencement of an in-house training programme for 100 KADVIS personnel, the Commander Ali Dabigi Rtd said the initiative followed an internal assessment of the agency’s operations, which identified the need for regular professional development to improve service delivery.

According to him, security agencies must continuously upgrade their skills because criminal activities are constantly changing.
He explained that while personnel receive training upon recruitment, periodic retraining is equally important to ensure they remain effective in responding to emerging security threats.
The Commander disclosed that the Kaduna State Government had recently sponsored the training of 1,000 KADVIS personnel, who are currently undergoing the programme and preparing for their passing-out parade.
In addition to that initiative, he said the agency had independently selected another 100 officers for specialised in-house training, leveraging the expertise of experienced officers within the service.
“We cannot afford to wait. We have experienced officers who can train our personnel, so we decided to withdraw 100 officers for intensive capacity building,” he said.
The KADVIS boss also highlighted the agency’s role in protecting educational institutions across Kaduna State, noting that its collaboration with other security agencies has significantly improved security around schools.
He said the sustained deployment of security personnel to schools has contributed to the absence of major criminal incidents targeting educational institutions in recent years.
According to him, the agency plans to further expand its operational capacity in the coming months as more personnel complete their training programmes.

He added that Governor Uba Sani’s administration remains committed to strengthening the operational effectiveness of KADVIS through continuous investment in personnel development.
Addressing the trainees, the Commander urged them to take the exercise seriously, stressing that the knowledge acquired would equip them to better protect lives and property while also ensuring their own safety during operations.
He reminded the officers that professionalism, discipline and respect for human rights remain fundamental principles of effective security service, urging them to apply the skills gained during the training in the discharge of their duties.
