The Kaduna State Executive Council has approved a raft of policies and projects aimed at enhancing security, strengthening healthcare regulation, improving education and expanding infrastructure development across the state.
The decisions were announced during a post-Executive Council briefing by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, alongside senior government officials.
Among the key approvals was the Kaduna State Safety, Security and Violence-Free Schools Policy, designed to promote a secure learning environment for pupils, students, teachers and other stakeholders in the education sector.
The Commissioner for Planning and Budget Commission, Mukhtar Ahmed Monrovia, said the policy underscores the administration’s commitment to protecting schoolchildren and sustaining investments in education through improved safety measures.
To further bolster security across the state, the Council approved the procurement of additional operational equipment and protective gear for personnel of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS).
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Suleiman Shuaibu, said the equipment would enhance the capacity of the vigilance service to support security agencies and strengthen community-based security operations in vulnerable areas.
In the health sector, the Council approved a draft bill seeking the establishment of the Kaduna State Private Health Services Regulatory Authority and directed that it be forwarded to the Kaduna State House of Assembly for legislative consideration.
According to the Commissioner of Health, Hajiya Umma Khaltum Ahmed, the proposed agency would oversee the licensing, accreditation and monitoring of private healthcare facilities to ensure compliance with professional and operational standards.
The Council also approved the reconstruction of Giwa Township Road and Shika Township Road in Giwa Local Government Area.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, Audu Na Audu, said the projects would improve transportation, facilitate economic activities and provide residents with better access to social and commercial services.
In a related development, the Council ratified the dereservation of 3,120 hectares of land within the Giwa Forest Reserve in Kagarko Local Government Area to pave the way for strategic development initiatives.
The Commissioner of Environment, Abubakar Buba, said the action was consistent with relevant laws and government policies guiding land use and development.
Speaking on the outcome of the meeting, Maiyaki said the approvals reflected the administration’s resolve to strengthen public institutions, improve service delivery and accelerate socio-economic development across Kaduna State.
