The Chairman of Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mrs Larai Sylvia Ishaku, says the council has adopted a fresh peace and security framework to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders and sustain the prevailing peace across the area.
Ishaku stated this on Thursday while chairing the council's monthly security meeting for July, where participants reviewed the security situation in the local government and resolved to deepen collective efforts towards protecting lives and property.
The meeting, which brought together security agencies, traditional rulers and other stakeholders, also reviewed the outcome of the Peace and Security Summit held on July 3, 2026, as part of efforts to consolidate existing peace initiatives.
According to the chairman, the review provided an opportunity to develop a broader framework that would enhance cooperation among farmers, herders, youths, traditional institutions and security agencies within Jaba Local Government Area and neighbouring communities.
She said the framework was designed to strengthen dialogue, promote mutual understanding and encourage shared responsibility in tackling security challenges before they escalate into conflicts.
"The review of the Peace and Security Summit has enabled us to develop a broader peace and security framework that will strengthen unity and collaboration among farmers, herders, youths, traditional institutions and security agencies within Jaba Local Government Area and neighbouring communities.
"We remain committed to building an inclusive and peaceful society where dialogue, mutual understanding and collective responsibility continue to guide our actions in sustaining peace and security," she said.
Ishaku reaffirmed her administration's commitment to maintaining peace through continuous engagement with communities and strategic collaboration with security agencies.
She noted that creating a peaceful environment remained essential for economic growth, agricultural activities and the overall well-being of residents.
The chairman added that the council's peace-building efforts align with the security vision of Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, whose administration, she said, has continued to prioritise peace, unity and sustainable development across the state.
She urged residents to support government and security agencies by remaining law-abiding, embracing peaceful coexistence and volunteering credible information that could help prevent criminal activities.
Ishaku expressed confidence that sustained collaboration among government, community leaders, traditional institutions, security agencies and residents would further consolidate peace in Jaba and neighbouring communities while creating an enabling environment for development and prosperity.
