The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, is expected to chair the public presentation of a new book on public relations scheduled to take place in Kaduna on Aug. 28.

The book, titled Aren’t We All PR People?, was authored by Mr Ahmed Balarabe Sa’id, a public relations practitioner, journalist and academic.

The Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee for the launch, Alhaji Abdulgafar Alabelewe said in a statement that the event would form part of activities marking the Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Kaduna State Chapter.

It will also coincide with the inaugural Bashir Chedi Annual Memorial Lecture.
The committee said Idris, a Fellow of NIPR and former Chairman of the institute’s Kaduna State Chapter, would serve as Chairman of the Occasion at the book presentation.

He said the publication was designed primarily for young public relations practitioners, students and those seeking to build careers in the profession.

According to the committee, the book provides practical perspectives on the history and evolution of public relations, particularly within the Nigerian context.
It said the publication also examined regulatory frameworks, career opportunities, professional ethics and the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the communication industry.

The committee said the book was written in a simple and conversational style, using Nigerian experiences and examples to make complex issues relating to public relations accessible to readers.

He added that the publication also featured profiles of notable professionals in the industry and examined issues considered relevant to practitioners and aspiring professionals.

The committee disclosed that the author had also entered into a media partnership with CommsOfAfrica, a pan-African digital media platform specialising in communication, media, branding and influence.

He said the partnership would provide editorial coverage and digital promotion for the book across Africa’s communication and media ecosystem.

The publication would also be featured in the platform’s CommsOfAfrica Book Corner, while the partnership would facilitate a future conversation on the ideas contained in the book and the changing nature of public relations careers across Africa.

Sa’id, according to the statement, said the partnership reflected the book’s emphasis on ensuring that African perspectives and experiences remained central to global conversations on communication.

He said the collaboration would help expand the book’s reach and encourage wider discussions on the future of public relations and communication practice on the continent.

The public presentation is expected to attract public relations practitioners, journalists, academics, students, government officials and other stakeholders in the communication industry.
