The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting suitably qualified Nigerians to apply for various entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting suitably qualified Nigerians to apply for various entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.

According to the commission, the online application portal opened on Monday, July 20, and will remain accessible until Monday, July 27. The exercise is aimed at strengthening the commission’s capacity in electoral administration, voter registration, data management and election logistics to enhance the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities. INEC said interested applicants are required to submit their applications online by creating an account on the official recruitment portal, completing the application form and uploading all required credentials.

The commission stressed that the recruitment exercise is free of charge, warning applicants against submitting false information or forged documents.

It cautioned that candidates found to have provided misleading information would be disqualified and could face prosecution. (INEC Recruitment)

Available Positions

The vacancies are grouped into three categories.

Under the Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12), available positions include Accountant, Clinical Officer, Lawyer, ICT Officer, Engineer and Quantity Surveyor.

Applicants for these positions must possess a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, while some positions require a master’s degree in the relevant discipline. They must also have relevant professional certifications, including NBA, COREN, NSE, NIQS, ICAN, ANAN or CPN where applicable, at least two years of post-qualification experience, an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, as well as strong analytical, communication, problem-solving and ICT skills. For the position of Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) on Grade Level 08, applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) or an equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences from a recognised institution.

Candidates are also expected to present an NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate and demonstrate proficiency in data management, record keeping, Microsoft Office applications and other ICT tools.

Applicants for the position of Executive Officer (Registration Officer) on Grade Level 07 must possess a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent from a recognised institution, alongside basic computer knowledge, data handling, communication and organisational skills. General Requirements

INEC said all applicants must present a valid certificate of state of origin signed by the Chairman or Secretary of their Local Government Area.

Applicants must also be certified physically and mentally fit by a government medical officer, be no older than 35 years at the time of application, possess good character without any criminal conviction, and be willing to serve in any part of the country.

The commission added that successful candidates are expected to demonstrate integrity, discipline and commitment to public service. (Federal Character Commission)

How to Apply

Interested applicants are required to visit the official INEC recruitment portal at recruitment.inecnigeria.org, where they will create an applicant account using their personal details, email address and National Identification Number (NIN).

After verifying their email address, applicants are to sign in, select their preferred cadre and vacancy, upload the required documents—including a passport photograph, birth certificate or declaration of age, O’Level result, degree, HND, ND or NCE certificate, Local Government identification certificate and NYSC certificate where applicable—before reviewing and submitting their applications online.

INEC noted that applicants cannot change their selected vacancy after submission and advised candidates to carefully review their applications before completing the process.

The commission also stated that only shortlisted candidates will be invited to the next stage of the recruitment exercise. (INEC Recruitment)
