Governor Uba Sani's Fertilizer Scheme Spells Great News for Farmers

Agriculture has long been the backbone of the people of Kaduna State. Over the years Kaduna farmers have been cultivating lands using age-old methods to generate sustenance and profit. Unfortunately, the high costs of fertilizers, agrochemicals, improved seedlings and farm equipment have often constrained many farmers from reaping bumper harvest. However, that time seems to be a thing of the past, as a new chapter of development dawns in Kaduna State under the progressive and transformative leadership of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State.

Governor Sani's administration has demonstrated, time and again, the commitment to people-centred leadership that has yielded demonstrable results in improving the quality of life of the people in Kaduna State. The recent announcement by the Kaduna State government regarding the distribution of free and subsidized fertilizers, agrochemicals and farm equipment for the 2026 farming season is a timely reminder that the government of Kaduna State will continue to invest in agriculture as a means of accelerating the socio-economic development of the state.

The Kaduna State government has rolled out a massive program, through the Ministry of Agriculture and the Kaduna Agricultural Development Agency (KADA), to distribute free and subsidized fertilizer, agrochemicals and farm equipment to thousands of farmers in all the 23 Local Government Councils and 255 political wards in Kaduna State.

Fertilizers, over the years, have often been a big expense for farmers, as prices kept climbing by the day. In most cases, farmers are only too eager to utilize the free resources provided by the government to increase the size of their farms and boost productivity.

The distribution of free fertilizer to farmers in Kaduna State is a laudable initiative and the fact that it will cover all Local Government Areas in Kaduna State speaks volumes about the commitment of the Governor of Kaduna State to equitable development of the state.

Governor Sani has long been an advocate of the need to prioritize rural development as opposed to concentrating all efforts on the cities and towns. His administration has made massive investments in road construction, school renovation, health service delivery, rural infrastructure and general development of the people in Kaduna State. As a result of his commitment to rural development, Kaduna farmers are now being motivated to scale up farming activities using improved farm implements and agrochemicals.

The free and subsidized distribution of fertilizers and farm equipment will greatly help to reduce the production costs of farmers. Consequently, more farmers will be encouraged to clear more lands and boost the productivity of the existing farmlands. The increase in farm produce will benefit farmers directly as increased agricultural output translates to increased income for most farmers. In addition, more food for the people means better health care, especially in regards to nutrition.

Besides helping to boost the quantity and quality of farm produce for the citizens of Kaduna State, the free distribution of agricultural fertilizers and farm implements will also help to ensure food security, especially in relation to agricultural products in Kaduna State.

It is well known that Kaduna State has always been one of the leading contributors to food production, especially in relation to agricultural products, in Nigeria. Governor Uba Sani is doing a fantastic job at positioning Kaduna State as one of the best places for investment in agriculture in Nigeria. His commitment to boosting food security bears fruits each day as he creates an enabling environment for agricultural activities in Kaduna State.

Another brilliant aspect of the Kaduna State government's agricultural program is the free and subsidized distribution of agrochemicals and farm equipment, alongside fertilizers. This speaks about the government's appreciation of the intricate details of agriculture. Empowering farmers will ultimately lead to feeding the people of Kaduna State, which will contribute immensely to securing the future of the people. More food means more healthy people, which translates to increased productivity of the citizens. As such, the benefits of the free fertilizer campaign will accrue not only to the farmers but to the entire populace of Kaduna State.

Governor Uba Sani has shown his people-centred leadership once again, as the free distribution of fertilizers to farmers in Kaduna State indicates that he is fully committed to putting Kaduna farmers first. The majority of Kaduna farmers have been his primary focus and, as such, he continues to empower them so that they can take their turn to add value to the Kaduna economy in general and the Nigerian economy, in particular.
