Panic broke out around the Apo Bridge area of the Federal Capital Territory on Thursday night after multiple explosions were heard near Shafa Filling Station, close to Rita Lori Hotel in Garki.

An eyewitness, Jason Akande, said he heard several loud explosions from the scene.
“It just exploded. I thought it was a bomb blast. I heard about seven explosions,” Akande said.
The explosions reportedly occurred near the busy filling station, heightening concerns among residents and motorists in the area.
Firefighters from the Federal Fire Service and the FCT Fire Service arrived shortly after the incident and commenced efforts to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings and facilities.
Security personnel and emergency responders also cordoned off the affected area as firefighting and rescue operations continued.
The cause of the explosion had not been established as of the time of filing this report.
Authorities had also yet to confirm whether there were casualties or the extent of damage resulting from the incident.
Residents and motorists were advised to avoid the area to allow emergency responders to operate safely while investigations into the incident continue.
