'Everyone Must Attend the School of Mercy' — Apostle Yakubu Yusuf Says God's Mercy Can Heal Nigeria, Restore the World

The Senior Pastor of House of Purpose Ministry, Anguwan Sunday, Kaduna, Apostle Yakubu Yusuf, has called on Nigerians and people across the world to seek God's mercy, declaring that it remains humanity's greatest hope amid growing insecurity, economic hardship, conflicts, and moral decline.

Speaking during the "fours hours of mercy" service, the cleric described God's mercy as unfailing, unending, and inexhaustible, stressing that every individual must pass through what he termed "the school of mercy" to experience true transformation, restoration, and divine fulfilment.

According to Apostle Yusuf, mercy is much deeper than God withholding punishment. He said it is God's compassionate intervention that forgives sins, restores broken lives, preserves destinies, delivers people from affliction, and grants undeserved favour.

Quoting 3:22-23, the pastor reminded worshippers that "It is because of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning," describing the passage as proof that God's mercy never fails and is renewed every day.

"The mercy of God never runs out. It is unfailing, unending, and inexhaustible. God is a specialist in showing mercy. If His mercy had limits, many of us would not be alive today," he said.

Apostle Yusuf noted that every believer who made a significant impact in the Scriptures first encountered God's mercy.

He cited , who found restoration after his grievous sins through repentance and God's compassion (Psalm 51); , who was restored after denying Jesus three times (John 21:15-19); and , whose life was transformed from persecutor to preacher through divine mercy (1 Timothy 1:13-16).

The cleric also referenced (Mark 10:46-52), whose persistent cry for mercy brought healing and a new beginning. He further mentioned the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32) and the repentant thief on the cross (Luke 23:39-43) as enduring examples of God's willingness to forgive and restore anyone who turns to Him.

Explaining the significance of divine mercy, Apostle Yusuf said it reaches beyond human failures, weaknesses, disappointments, and impossible situations.

"When God's mercy speaks, judgment gives way to grace. Closed doors are opened, shame is replaced with honour, hopelessness gives way to hope, and impossible situations begin to change. Mercy gives people another opportunity when every other opportunity has failed."

According to him, those who encounter God's mercy enjoy forgiveness, divine preservation, restoration of lost opportunities, supernatural favour, healing, deliverance, peace, and lasting breakthroughs.

The senior pastor added that while diligence, education, and personal effort remain important, lasting success ultimately depends on God's mercy, citing Romans 9:16, which states: "It is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy."

Addressing the state of the nation and the world, Apostle Yusuf said the growing challenges confronting humanity—including insecurity, terrorism, wars, economic instability, hunger, injustice, corruption, and moral decadence—require more than political or human solutions.

He maintained that Nigeria, Africa, and every nation urgently need an outpouring of God's mercy.

"What Nigeria needs today is the mercy of God. What Africa needs is the mercy of God. What every nation, tribe, and tongue needs is the mercy of God. When God's mercy speaks, peace replaces conflict, healing replaces pain, provision replaces lack, and hope rises where despair once existed."

The cleric further stated that if Nigeria and the nations of the world genuinely humble themselves before God and seek His mercy, the negativity affecting societies would be neutralised through divine intervention.

"When a people cry sincerely for God's mercy, He intervenes. Every form of negativity—whether insecurity, bloodshed, poverty, sickness, hatred, division, or hopelessness—can be neutralised by the mercy of God. He restores broken lives, heals wounded nations, rebuilds families, establishes peace, and makes all things whole and new again."

He reminded worshippers that God's ability to show mercy has never diminished, quoting Hebrews 13:8, which declares that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore."

"The God who showed mercy to David, Peter, Paul, Blind Bartimaeus, and countless others is still showing mercy today. His power has not changed, His compassion has not failed, and His mercy has not expired."

Apostle Yusuf urged believers to continually seek God's mercy through repentance, humility, prayer, faith, and obedience, assuring them that God never rejects anyone who genuinely turns to Him.

He concluded by encouraging people not to give up regardless of their circumstances, saying that God's mercy remains available to rewrite every story.

"God's mercy is still speaking today. It has not expired, and it never will. No matter where you are or what you have done, His mercy is able to find you, restore you, and give you a brand-new beginning. If individuals, families, Nigeria, and the nations of the earth sincerely seek His mercy, God will make all things new again."
