MACBAN said the attack also left about 40 cattle dead, describing the incident as a major loss for the affected family and the association.

Two sons of the South-East Zonal Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Haruna Sale, have been killed in a reported attack on a cattle camp in Oheoyya Community, Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The victims, identified as Ahmadu and Umaru, were reportedly attacked by unidentified assailants at about 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, according to a statement issued by MACBAN's National Deputy Director-General, Gidado Siddiki.

MACBAN said the attack also left about 40 cattle dead, describing the incident as a major loss for the affected family and the association.

The association commended the Enugu State Government and security agencies for their prompt response, noting that the victims' bodies were recovered from the forest, enabling their families to perform Islamic burial rites.

"We sincerely appreciate the Government of Enugu State and the security agencies for their swift intervention in recovering the bodies of the deceased from the forest," Siddiki said.

The association called on security agencies to intensify investigations into the attack and ensure those responsible are identified, arrested and prosecuted.

MACBAN reiterated that its members in the South-East are engaged in lawful cattle rearing, breeding and trading activities in line with the laws of Nigeria.

It also appealed to residents of Enugu State to continue supporting peaceful coexistence between herders and host communities, while expressing appreciation to Governor Peter Mbah, traditional rulers, community leaders, faith-based organisations and residents for their efforts in promoting harmony across the state.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful coexistence, respect for the rule of law and collaboration with governments, host communities and security agencies to strengthen peace, security and national unity.
