EFCC Arraigns Man Over Alleged N15m Misappropriation

The charge stated that Ahmed, alongside Blackrock Apartments & Suites Limited, allegedly dishonestly converted the funds, an offence punishable under Sections 308 and 309 of the Penal Code.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Aminu Datti Ahmed before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Jabi, Abuja, over the alleged misappropriation of N15 million mistakenly paid into his bank account.

Ahmed was docked on Thursday before Justice M.S. Idris on a one-count charge of dishonest conversion of funds.

According to the EFCC, the N15 million was inadvertently credited in 2025 to Ahmed's Taj Bank account instead of Braverock Investment Limited, the intended recipient. The commission alleged that the money formed part of scheduled payments for a property transaction but was converted to Ahmed's personal use.

The charge stated that Ahmed, alongside Blackrock Apartments & Suites Limited, allegedly dishonestly converted the funds, an offence punishable under Sections 308 and 309 of the Penal Code.

Ahmed pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Following his plea, prosecution counsel N.M. Tertsua asked the court to fix a trial date and remand the defendant in a correctional facility pending trial. Defence counsel Isyaku Musa, however, applied for bail, a request the prosecution did not oppose.

Justice Idris granted Ahmed bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties. The court directed that one of the sureties must be a businessman with a registered business certificate and must depose to an affidavit in support of the bail bond.

The judge adjourned the case until October 21, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
