Nigeria’s electricity distribution companies (DisCos) collected N196.13 billion in revenue from customers in March 2026, according to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

The figure was generated from a total billing of N246.43 billion during the month, reflecting a collection efficiency of 79.59 percent. However, the amount collected represents a slight decline of 0.28 percent compared to the N196.68 billion recorded in February.

In its latest Commercial Performance of Distribution Companies fact sheet, NERC noted that total customer billing increased by 1.71 percent from N242.29 billion in February to N246.43 billion in March.

The report further revealed that DisCos received 293.76 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy in March, representing a 6.02 percent increase from the 277.09 million kWh received in February.

According to the commission, the average approved tariff across the distribution companies stood at N124.30 per kWh, while the actual average collection was N100.75 per kWh. This translated to an overall revenue recovery efficiency of 81.05 percent for the month.

Among the DisCos, Ikeja Electric recorded the highest revenue recovery efficiency at 99.30 percent, followed by Eko Electricity Distribution Company with 95.73 percent and Benin Electricity Distribution Company with 85.18 percent.

On the other hand, Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company posted the lowest revenue recovery efficiency at 35.65 percent, while Jos and Yola DisCos recorded 53.53 percent and 58.58 percent respectively.

Ikeja Electric also topped the collection efficiency ranking with 96.38 percent, ahead of Benin DisCo at 90.97 percent and Eko DisCo at 87.68 percent. Kaduna DisCo again ranked lowest with 38.54 percent, followed by Jos DisCo at 57.94 percent and Yola DisCo at 69.83 percent.

For billing efficiency, Eko DisCo emerged as the best-performing company with 92.30 percent, while Port Harcourt DisCo and Ikeja DisCo followed with 90.36 percent and 87.76 percent respectively. Yola DisCo recorded the weakest billing efficiency at 58.68 percent.

The latest figures highlight ongoing disparities in operational performance among Nigeria’s power distribution companies despite improvements in energy supply and customer billing.
