Afrobeats pioneer D’Banj’s C.R.E.A.M. platform has entered a strategic partnership with global independent music company CINQ Music Group, a GoDigital Music company. Announced in mid-July 2026, the collaboration aims to create scalable pipelines for emerging African artists to reach international audiences while integrating D’Banj’s own music catalog into CINQ’s ecosystem.

C.R.E.A.M. — short for Creative, Reality, Entertainment, Arts, and Music, positions itself as the first African-owned, direct-to-consumer superfan platform for creatives. Founded by D’Banj and launched in 2016, it has grown to more than seven million subscribers in Nigeria. The platform focuses on talent discovery, content monetization, fan engagement, and career development, helping artists connect directly with audiences and resources while bypassing some traditional industry barriers.

CINQ Music Group brings global distribution, marketing, data-driven infrastructure, and development expertise. The company manages a large catalog spanning genres including Afrobeats, Reggaeton, Música Mexicana, Country, and Pop, and has worked with major artists. Its parent, GoDigital Music, has expanded aggressively through a major funding raise and acquisitions that strengthen its reach.

The deal centers on building a pathway for the next generation of African talent rather than treating the catalog acquisition as the main event. At its core is C.R.E.A.M.’s talent competition, Best of The Streets (B.O.T.S.), which returns in October 2026. The program identifies emerging creatives across Africa through fan voting, mentorship, live showcases, and artist development programs.

CINQ Music will sign and develop 10 artists selected through B.O.T.S., offering them global distribution, marketing support, funding, and long-term career development. Beyond those signings, the broader C.R.E.A.M. community will gain access to distribution and monetization services through Octiive, another GoDigital Music company. The partnership is supported and managed by Immensum Music.

D’Banj, founder and CEO of C.R.E.A.M., emphasized the vision: “C.R.E.A.M was founded to create opportunities for talented young people and connect African creatives to the audiences, resources, and platforms they need to succeed. Through this partnership with Cinq Music Group, we are expanding that vision by creating a direct pathway for emerging artists to access global development, distribution, and career opportunities. Together, we are building a stronger future for African talent and ensuring the next generation can compete and thrive on the world stage from their home country in Africa.”

Fotemah Mba, Head of A&R and African Expansion at CINQ, highlighted the platform’s unique strength: “What D’Banj has built with C.R.E.A.M is unlike anything else. It’s a massive, grassroots engine that connects directly with the heart of independent talent. At Cinq, our mission has always been to empower creators with data-driven infrastructure and true partnership… we aren’t just signing great new artists, we are building a permanent, scalable highway for the next wave of African superstars to reach audiences worldwide.” She also noted that African music has moved beyond a temporary “moment” and is fundamentally influencing the global industry.

The partnership arrives as Sub-Saharan Africa ranks among the world’s fastest-growing recorded music markets. According to the IFPI Global Music Report 2026, regional revenues grew 15.2% in 2025 to USD $120 million, driven by rising licensed streaming, the expanding global influence of African artists, and increased investment from major companies. Industry players have shifted focus from solely signing individual stars toward supporting discovery platforms and infrastructure. A trend reflected in deals like Universal Music Group’s majority stake in Mavin Records and Warner Music Group’s full acquisition of Africori.

C.R.E.A.M. itself has attracted institutional interest, including a term sheet for an equity investment from Afreximbank’s CANEX Creations. D’Banj’s catalog, anchored by the global hit “Oliver Twist” (which peaked at No. 9 on the UK Official Singles Chart in 2012 and has tens of millions of streams), adds established repertoire to CINQ’s holdings.

By combining C.R.E.A.M.’s grassroots reach and fan-powered discovery with CINQ’s international infrastructure, the partnership aims to give emerging African artists a clearer path to global stages without them having to leave their home country. With B.O.T.S. returning in October and 10 artists set for development deals, this collaboration marks a concrete step toward strengthening Africa’s creative pipeline and ensuring the next generation of talent can compete on equal footing worldwide.

The deal emphasizes a growing consensus in the industry: sustainable growth in African music depends not only on hit-making artists but also on strong platforms that discover, nurture, and connect them to global opportunities.
