Army Arrests Suspected Terror Kingpin’s Wife, Others in Kwara Security Crackdown
Troops of the 22 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have arrested the wife of a suspected terror kingpin and several other individuals during a clearance operation in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The operation, carried out on June 15, targeted criminal hideouts in the Lafiagi, Gbugbu and Ndeji areas as part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, kidnapping and other violent crimes in the region.
According to military sources, troops intercepted and arrested the wife of a suspected terror kingpin, identified as Auta Ilori, along with her three children near Ndeji town. She was reportedly on her way to her husband's hideout when she was apprehended.
In a related operation, soldiers arrested another suspect, his wife and their two children at a residence where the kingpin’s wife had allegedly spent the night before her arrest.
Military sources said preliminary investigations revealed that the woman allegedly admitted knowing about her husband's involvement in kidnapping and other terrorist-related activities.
The arrests form part of a sustained military offensive aimed at dismantling criminal networks, disrupting their operations and restricting the movement of armed groups within the area.
All the suspects are currently in military custody and are undergoing further investigation, while security forces continue efforts to track down other members of the suspected criminal network.
