22-Year-Old Remanded for Alleged Knife-Point Robbery of Minor

Dauda, a resident of Rumde Makera, Jimeta, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Court 3 on allegations of criminal intimidation and Shilla gangsterism.
A Chief Magistrate Court in Yola, Adamawa State, has remanded a 22-year-old man, Habu Hellere Dauda, over the alleged knife-point robbery of a nine-year-old boy.
Dauda, a resident of Rumde Makera, Jimeta, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Court 3 on allegations of criminal intimidation and Shilla gangsterism.
The police prosecutor, Danjuma Hamidu, told the court that Dauda allegedly attacked the minor, identified as Aliyu Mohammed, on Ajiya Street, Jimeta, on Sunday, August 9, and dispossessed him of N600 at knife-point.
When the First Information Report was interpreted to him, Dauda pleaded guilty to the charges.
Hamidu subsequently applied for the defendant to be remanded in custody to enable the prosecution produce a witness to corroborate the plea.
Chief Magistrate Uwani Danladi granted the application and ordered that Dauda be remanded in prison custody.
The court adjourned the case until Monday, August 17, for corroboration and possible summary trial.
Dauda is facing charges of criminal intimidation and Shilla gangsterism under Sections 382 and 346 of the Penal Code Law of Adamawa State.
