10 Policemen Killed in Kebbi Bandit Clash

Ten police officers were killed in the exchange, while two others sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical attention. Two civilians were also reportedly killed during the encounter.
The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the death of 10 personnel during a fierce encounter with suspected bandits in Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The confrontation occurred at about 9:25 a.m. on Monday, August 10, when police operatives intercepted a heavily armed group reportedly moving between Zamfara and Kebbi states along the Rafin Makuku axis.
According to the Force, at least 17 suspected bandits were neutralised during the operation, while four motorcycles belonging to the attackers were destroyed.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, expressed grief over the loss, describing the fallen officers as personnel who paid the ultimate price in the defence of Nigerians.
Disu commiserated with the families and loved ones of the deceased, assuring them that the sacrifices of the officers would not be forgotten.
The remains of the fallen personnel have been conveyed to Birnin Kebbi, while security forces have taken control of the area and reinforced their presence to prevent further attacks.
The police said operations have been intensified to track down fleeing members of the criminal group and bring them to justice.
The Force also pledged continued support for the families of the deceased officers and the injured personnel, while honouring the memory of those killed in the line of duty.
